Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters.

Explore Lifters' Privacy Policy to learn how we collect, use, and safeguard your information.

Effective Date: Mar 1, 2025

At Lifters, we value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you visit our website or engage with our services. Please take the time to read this policy carefully.

Categories of Personal Data Processed by Lifters

When you create a Lifters account, we ask you to provide your email address, name, and password. You can choose to provide only your first name or a nickname instead of your full name if you wish. We may also ask you to provide your mobile phone number.

Purposes and Legal Grounds

(a) We process your email address because you use your Google Email address to sign in to your account. The legal ground for processing your email address for this purpose is our legitimate interest in protecting the security of your account.

(b) We also process your email address for the purpose of sending you important information about your Lifters services, apps, or account, such as important safety information or material changes to this Privacy Policy. The name you provide is associated with your account profile and is displayed when you submit comments or other material on our websites or apps or engage with other users. The legal ground for processing your email address and name for these purposes is our legitimate interest in providing you with important safety or other information about your Garmin products, services, apps, or account or material changes to this Privacy Policy and in providing you an opportunity to engage with other users.

(c) If you provide your opt-in consent to receive direct marketing information from us, we will also process your email address or other account identifiers for the purpose of sending you marketing communications (e.g., emails) about our products, services, and apps, as well as newsletters. The legal ground for processing your email address for this purpose is your consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time by changing your preferences in your account or through the unsubscribe link at the bottom of our marketing emails. The marketing emails you receive from us are based on the preferences you provide in your account and any subscriptions included in your account. The legal ground for processing this data for this purpose is our legitimate interest in reducing the number of marketing emails sent to each particular customer by selecting which customers receive a particular marketing email rather than sending every marketing email to every customer who has consented to receiving marketing emails.

(d) We also process your email address to associate it with your account when you interact with our customer support representatives. The legal ground for this processing is our legitimate interest in providing quality customer support.

(e) We also process your email address to notify customers when they have violated our terms. The legal ground for this processing is our legitimate interest in ensuring a quality experience for all customers and ensuring adherence to our terms.

Personal Data Processed When You Sync or Import Workout Data

When you sync or import your workout data into our app — whether manually or through third-party APIs such as Garmin, Apple Health, or Strava — we collect and store relevant fitness data (e.g., workouts, activity type, duration, calories, etc.) solely for your personal use within the app.

We may also log metadata about the sync process, including:

  • Time and date of the import

  • IP address used

  • Device and operating system

  • Source of import (e.g., Garmin, Apple Health, Strava)

  • Diagnostic logs to troubleshoot sync issues

Purpose and Legal Grounds:

We process this information to:

  • Ensure your data syncs correctly

  • Resolve technical issues and improve functionality

  • Analyse usage trends to enhance app features

The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in providing reliable, personalised, and technically sound services.

Data Visibility and User Control

By default, your imported or manually added workout data is private and visible only to you.

You may explicitly choose to make your workout data visible to others through your profile or sharing features. In this case, certain information like your workout title, date, or performance metrics may be displayed to others based on your preferences.

Legal Basis:

The legal ground for displaying your workout data to others is your explicit consent, which you provide through your settings or sharing actions. You may withdraw this consent at any time by updating your visibility preferences.

Personal Data from Customer Support Interactions

If you contact our support team, we may collect personal data including:

  • Your name and contact information (email, phone)

  • Details of your inquiry

  • Device or account-related information for troubleshooting

We may log and review support communications to improve service quality.

Purpose and Legal Grounds:

This processing is based on our legitimate interest in providing efficient customer support. If you grant permission for us to access your account during support sessions, that access is based on your consent, which you can revoke at any time.

Personal Data Processed to Prevent Fraud or Abuse

We monitor and process limited personal data (such as email, IP address, and usage patterns) to detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Use.

Legal Basis:

This processing is based on our legitimate interest in maintaining the integrity and safety of our platform and its users.

Location-Based Features (If Applicable)

If you opt into location-based features (e.g., showing where an outdoor workout occurred), your device’s GPS or location data may be used to enable those features.

Legal Basis:

This is processed based on your consent, and you may disable location sharing in your device or app settings at any time.

Data Storage and Security

All workout and personal data is securely stored and is never sold or shared with third parties without your explicit consent. You retain full control over your data, and can request deletion of your account or workout history at any time.

Categories of recipients of personal data

Service Providers

We use third-party service providers to help us deliver a reliable, secure, and functional user experience. These partners assist with communication, hosting, data processing, and payment transactions. They only process your data as necessary to perform services on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect your information.

Communications and Notifications

  • Resend and Base44: We use Resend and Base44 to manage email communication and platform integration.

  • Twilio: We use Twilio to send WhatsApp or SMS-based notifications (e.g., workout reminders or account-related updates). These services may track delivery or interaction data (e.g., message status or timestamps) for operational purposes.

Payments

  • Stripe: All payments are securely processed via Stripe. We do not store your payment details directly. Stripe may collect and process your name, billing address, and payment method to complete transactions and prevent fraud.

Analytics and Diagnostics

We may use anonymized and aggregated data to monitor the functionality, performance, and security of our app. This includes usage frequency, device types, and error/crash reporting to improve the app's reliability and your user experience.

No Data Sharing with Third Parties for Marketing or Sale

Your personal data is never sold, shared, or disclosed to any third-party companies for marketing purposes. Only Lifters and its core service providers handle your data, exclusively to support the app’s features.

Other disclosures

We may disclose your personal data:

  • With your explicit consent

  • To comply with legal obligations, such as court orders or lawful requests by public authorities

  • To investigate or prevent fraud, abuse, or security threats

  • In the context of a merger, acquisition, or business reorganization, where we will ensure your rights are protected and notify you before changes take effect

International data transfers

Lifters may store and process data on secure servers in countries outside your home country. Where data is transferred internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses or compliance with recognized data protection frameworks.

Retention of personal data

We retain your personal data only as long as necessary:

  • To provide the services you’ve requested

  • To comply with legal obligations

  • To fulfill legitimate business interests (e.g., diagnosing issues or resolving disputes)

You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time via the app’s privacy settings.

Children's policy

Lifters is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 16. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from a child without verified parental consent, we will delete it promptly.

Privacy policy updates

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. If the changes are significant, we’ll notify you through the app or via email. Your continued use of Lifters after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
